I think that one of the greatest challenges when working with a material as inherently complex and organically beautiful as wood is ensuring that whatever you do to it doesn't detract from that innate beauty. In my work I strive to capture and accentuate the simple beauty of wood by retaining texture and colour; by avoiding ornamentation and excesses; and by designing simple, elegant pieces of furniture.

I also recognize the strain put on our natural resources and as a result I place an emphasis on using locally grown native species and reclaimed wood whenever possible.

I'm currently putting my woodworking on the backburner to concentrate on my PhD, but I'll still be making the occasional thing, so check out my blog for the latest and greatest.
